GIANCE at Graphene Week 2025: advancing science, innovation and collaboration

From 22 to 26 September 2025, the GIANCE consortium actively took part in Graphene Week 2025 in Vicenza, one of the most important events for the European graphene and 2D materials community.

Hosted by the Graphene Flagship, the week brought together researchers, innovators and industry to share breakthroughs, discuss future challenges, and explore new opportunities for impact. GIANCE was there with a rich programme of lectures, workshops, posters, and organised sessions, showcasing our contribution to science, sustainability, and innovation.

Scientific highlights

  • LCA Workshop (24 Sept) – Co-hosted with Fraunhofer ICT, the workshop marked a step forward towards harmonised methodologies and the vision of an EU-wide open graphene database for sustainability benchmarking.

  • Lectures and parallel sessions – GIANCE partners presented cutting-edge research on composites, membranes for water remediation, green hydrogen production, and screen-printing of reduced graphene oxide for electrolyzers.

  • Innovation Forum (24 Sept) – Three GIANCE partners pitched their graphene-based solutions, from recyclable composites to advanced coatings and packaging applications.

  • GIANCE Characterization Platform (25 Sept) – Presented as a new digital tool, developed by PNO Digital and based on the work of CNR, designed to collect and share key technical data for the community.

  • Poster contributions – Preliminary results from the screening LCA of 11 use cases, and applications for aerospace lightning strike protection.

Building community

Beyond the scientific programme, GIANCE partners also gathered for the General Assembly to align on strategy and next steps.
Moments such as the project dinner and the Flagship gala evening provided valuable opportunities for team building and networking with the wider community — reminding us that science grows stronger when built together.
