GIANCE Online Recycling Workshop – Engages Over 50 Participants
From Composite Waste to New Value – GIANCE Online On 20 October 2026, the GIANCE project successfully hosted the GIANCE Online Recycling Workshop, bringing together over 50 participants to explore innovative approaches to the recycling and reuse of composite materials, with a particular focus on carbon fibre reinforced composites.
The event brought together experts from TNO, Fraunhofer ICT, Crossfire, and Gruppo Hera, highlighting technological developments and practical solutions to address the challenges of end-of-life composite materials and support more sustainable and circular value chains.
Four expert speakers shared their perspectives on different recycling approaches. Ali Rezaei (TNO) presented a thermomechanical extrusion-based approach to transforming composite waste into new materials, while Ronny Hanich-Spahn (Fraunhofer ICT) explored tailored recycling technologies for carbon fibre reinforced composites.
Gianluigi Creonti (Crossfire) introduced Crosspreg®, a circular recyclable composite solution, presenting relevant use cases and opportunities for end-of-life material management. Jacopo Ortolani (Gruppo Hera) focused on carbon fibre recovery, highlighting the transformation of composite waste into high-value recovered materials through industrial recycling solutions.
The workshop highlighted the importance of connecting research, technological innovation, and industrial applications to advance circular solutions for composite materials. By promoting knowledge exchange and showcasing complementary recycling approaches, the event contributed to GIANCE’s commitment to developing more sustainable materials and supporting the transition towards a circular economy.
